Volleyball Spotlight with Raegan Essex
The volleyball season is in the books, but that doesn’t mean we can’t catch up with one of the players. Raegan Essex had a lot to say about school and her team. Check it out.
VYPE: Raegan, what is your favorite subject in school? Do you have a favorite teacher?
Essex: My favorite class would have to be geometry with Miss Lisa Napier.
VYPE: Tell me your most memorable moment playing volleyball for the Lady Roughers.
Essex: My favorite memory as a student-athlete is when we played McAlester at home and I scored the winning point after a four-set match. The whole student section, which was around 80 students, came running to the center of the court jumping and cheering.
VYPE: That must have been a great moment. Who in your life has helped prepare you for those moments?
Essex: A big influence in my life has been coach Hammer. Throughout my volleyball career and personal life, he has been so supportive and has always seen my potential even when no one else could. I am so blessed to have such a great relationship with him, and I could never ask for a better coach.
