Serving It Up with Kathryn Hewitt – Presented by Pizza Inn

VYPE: What are your goals for yourself and your team this season?

Kathryn: My personal goal is to develop a better mental game and to not be as hard on myself in tennis and in my everyday life. My goal for my team is to qualify for the state tournament with my doubles partner again and have our other girls make it as well.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

Kathryn: The most fun I have had in the last year is spending the weekend in Oklahoma City with my doubles partner and our friends and families while we were at the state tournament.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade or coach and why?

Kathryn: My favorite teacher I have ever had is Mr. Jack Reavis and my favorite coach is Seth Chapuis. They both have taught me so much in the classroom and on the court, as well as things that I will carry with me throughout my life.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

Kathryn: My favorite athletic memory is winning the match at regionals that qualified my doubles partner and I for the state tournament. I have never felt a feeling like that in my life.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Kathryn: Klaire, my doubles partner, has left the biggest impression on me. She is my best friend off the court, so she knows me on a very personal level, and we have so much fun together. She is the only person that can get me out of my head during a match if I am struggling and I am beyond grateful for that.

VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?

Kathryn: Klaire and I both love to joke with Coach Chapuis and we both have great impressions of him. Klaire and I also say some of the most random things to each other on the court and we both think that the other is the funniest person to exist.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Kathryn: If I could choose anywhere to vacation, I would choose to go to Mykonos, Greece. I would take my four closest friends with me because nothing beats having your best friends with you on a trip.

VYPE: If we gave you $500 dollars and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?

Kathryn: I would easily spend $500 dollars on clothes. I love clothes, so the $500 would not last very long in my hands if I am near an Anthropologie, Free People, or Lululemon store.

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.

Kathryn: I want to thank VYPE for this chance to be in their athlete spotlight, I appreciate this opportunity so much. Thank you to my precious family and my sweet friends, I love all of you too much to put into words. To my coaches and teammates, you guys are the best and have made my senior season my best one yet and I am beyond grateful for you all.
