“Cobra” Kye Carter Looks to Lead – Presented by The Beauty Lounge

VYPE: What are your goals for yourself and your team this season?

Kye: My goal every time I step on the field is to play at the level of the potential I have. Our team is capable of breaking records. We count on each other and believe our team can win a state championship before I graduate in 2025. In the future I hope to play college ball, major in biochemistry and go on to play professional softball and be a women’s sports commentator.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

Kye: In the fall of 2021 during our fastpitch season we played Coweta High School and went on to win the game. I feel like that game we played to our potential and worked hard on the field together. It was a great game with a competitive team that challenged us but also allowed us to have fun playing the game we love.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade or coach and why?

Kye: When I first started playing softball, I was trash. Then one day Coach Andi Hurst convinced me to try out for a competitive team called Smoke with Coach Ashley. They transformed my mindset and made me believe things were possible I had never even thought about. I hit my first out of the park homerun for Coach Ashley and without her I would never have been able to meet the challenge of playing for Coach Dicus.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

Kye: My most exciting memory is against Collinsville. We had two outs and there was hit over first base and I had to dive to make the out so they wouldn’t score and beat us. It was my first successful diving catch during game play and it is an awesome memory.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Kye: Karsyn York is a senior player that has taught me so much about loyalty to your team. Even when she is feeling down or not doing her best, she never stops encouraging us and helping us to improve. She is committed to doing the little things to help our team succeed. She is my mentor and friend.

VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?

Kye: Kambri Johnson does the best Coach Dicus impressions. “CHRISTMAS.”

And Coach Dicus is hilarious as third base coach. He keeps us laughing.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Kye: I’ve always had a dream to visit the Bahamas or somewhere in the Caribbean. Of course, my family is the best company so everyone I consider family is coming with us, that includes my softball family as well!

VYPE: If we gave you $500 dollars and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?

Kye: Purple pit vipers…I’m saving up now. And more gear! Always more gear!

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.

Kye: I’d like to thank God who strengthens me and shows me the way I need to go every day. I’d also like to thank everyone who invested in me and my future. I love you all! I also need to say hello to Kobra Kye 2.0 and goodbye to junior high Kye. And finally I would like to welcome the little girl who made me who I am today
