

Termed a “season of moves”, the Muskogee Roughers open the 2022 football season
Friday night on the road as they travel to Enid in a non-district matchup.
The Plainsmen, a 6A-I division team went 3-7 a year ago and return a total of 16
starters from last year’s team. Luke Ruah (6-2, 200, Sr.) who presents a forceful
running style will once again be the workhorse in the Enid offense of head coach
Rashaun Woods, now in his third season.
Muskogee looks to open the season with a game one victory as the Roughers return
nine starters to the offensive unit including sophomore quarterback Jamarian
Ficklin (6-1, 183, So.) who totaled 2356 yards passing in 2021 including 20
touchdowns. Jayden Bell (5-8, 155,Sr.) will be one of the primary receiver targets
while Brandon Tolbert (5-8, 201, Sr.) will get plenty of chance to run the football
following an offensive front line that anchored by a pair of seniors Vernon
Pepiakatah (6-1, 290) and Jase Garrett (5-11, 230).
Coach Travis Hill enters year two as the Roughers head coach with a defensive unit
that has four returning starters including linebacker Deshawn Smith (5-11, 180, Sr.)
who made 24 solo stops last season.
