A Tough Road Test at MWC Carl Albert
After a successful debut at the new home of Muskogee football, Rougher Village, the Roughers will try for a third straight victory as the Green and White travel to Midwest City Carl Albert to battle the Titans on Friday night at Gary Rose Stadium.
Sophomore quarterback Jamarian Ficklin engineered the offense connecting on 16 of 25 passes and totaled 320 yards including four touchdowns in the Roughers 47-3 win over Putnam City. Kayden McGee scored twice including a 63-yard reception from Ficklin while Ondraye Beasley added a cross-country sprint to the endzone.
Powered by the efforts of linebackers Brandon Tolbert and Deshawn Smith, the Muskogee defense limited Putnam City to just a field goal while forcing two turnovers on pass interceptions by Jarin Riggs-Brown and Deyon Bowler. Special teams added to the celebration including a 46-yard punt return for six points by Jayden Bell.
The Roughers will face a stern test against the tradition rich Titans (1-1) following their 39-25 victory over rival Midwest City last week. Carl Albert, who has won five of the last six Class 5A football state championships, boasts a strong ground game anchored by junior running back Xavier Robinson who rushed for 264 yards on 31 carries and scored four touchdowns.
Game time is set for 7pm. The game will broadcast via livestream at YouTube.com/RougherTV as well as heard on radio on KTFX 101.7fm.
