The Roughers field a solid group of runners this season on the cross country circuit. Head coach Craig Perry felt the team was in a good spot to show lots of improvement this season.
“We return a state qualifier from last year and a Senior that has improved greatly, also some freshmen that could contribute,” said coach Perry.
Joshua Vienna is the senior returning to the team this year. Vienna has worked hard in the offseason to improve his times and will certainly play a factor in the overall development of the team.
Candon West was a state qualifier last year and will look to return to the state meet for his junior year. West has the talent to lead the Roughers this season. At the Tahlequah “Early Tiger” Cross Country Invitational, West finished with a time of 3:29.69 for a sixth-place finish.
A trio of freshmen have come into the program and are making their presence felt. Angel Monsivais kicked off his season with a fifth-place finish at the JV category with teammate and fellow freshman Lance Doty crossing in 30th.
