

Muskogee High School Athletics will celebrate the many accomplishments seven individuals who have been part of the Muskogee tradition of success with the induction of the Class of 2022 into the Muskogee Athletics Hall of Fame.
Kamren Curl (football), Aaliyah Wilson (basketball), Heather Davis (basketball) Aubrey Johnson (softball), Elexis Watson (softball), Ray Grandstaff (football player and coach) and Lonnie Barker (wrestling) will be recognized during a ceremony prior to the Hall of Fame Night football contest at Rougher Village against Tahlequah on Thursday night and the elite group will be introduced to the fans at halftime of the game itself.

Kamren Curl, a 2017 graduate is best known his football accomplishments helping to lead the Roughers to the Class 6A-II semifinals during his senior season. Following his high school career, Curl committed to the University of Arkansas football program where after starting 12 games as a true freshman, he would earn second team All-SEC honors as part of the Razorbacks secondary in his sophomore and junior seasons. Curl was drafted in the seventh round of the NFL draft by Washington where he continues to display his talents.

Wilson is without question the most decorated female to play basketball for the Roughers. The 2016 grad, Wilson led the Lady Roughers to the Class 6A state basketball tournament three times including a state finals appearance in her junior season and the semifinals during her senior year. Ranked as one of the top-5 guards in the nation by ESPN, Wilson was twice named the Gatorade Oklahoma Player of the Year and numerous All-American teams including Jordan Brand and Max Preps and was selected to play in the prestigious McDonald’s All-American basketball game. Her many accomplishments on the college circuit include helping Texas A&M to win the SEC championship in 2020 while earning All-American honors by the Associated Press. The following year, Wilson was selected as the 11th overall pick in the WNBA draft by the Seattle Storm and acquired by the Indiana Fever.

A 2008 grad, Heather Davis was a standout basketball and soccer athlete. Heather led her team in multiple statistical categories during her career by posting a 17.5 points per game scoring average. On the pitch, Davis earned both All-Conference and All-District honors. Davis continued her career on the college level playing two seasons at the University of Missouri-Kansas City before transferring to join the women’s program at the University of Central Oklahoma where she posted double figure scoring totals in her senior season of 2012. Davis remained at UCO where she served as an assistant coach for eight years. She is currently the women’s assistant basketball coach at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

Aubrey Johnson is a 2016 graduate and four-year letter winner for the Lady Roughers softball team. Johnson was a three-time all-conference performer in fast-pitch and slow-pitch earning both fast-pitch and Academic All-State honors as a senior. She finished her high school career being named an NFCA All-American and holds the numerous individual statistical records for Roughers softball including at bats, hits, runs, doubles, and stolen bases. Johnson continued her student athlete career attending the University of Central Florida where she became a three-time letter winner with a .250 career batting average and .339 slugging percentage. Leading the team in home runs, RBIs and stolen bases during her sophomore year highlighted her distinguished college career. She finished her college career as a four-time American Conference All-Academic performer and was twice named an NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete while culminating her time at UCF with a Bachelors of Exercise Science and Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy. She currently resides in Johnson City, Tennessee where she works as an Occupational Therapist.

Elexis Watson is a 2017 graduate and a standout performer for Lady Roughers softball. In 2016, Watson helped lead the team to a runner-up finish in the state finals. Watson was also a four-time first team selection to the Frontier Conference softball team and All-Academic Team. Following her high school career, Watson attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University were she was named both MVP and Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year. She transferred to Rogers State University where she was a member of the 2022 National Championship team. At RSU, Watson was named a member of the All-MIAA tourney team, D2CCA second team All Region, and the All-MIAA Gold Glove team. She finished her career ranking in the top 10 nationally in eight statistical categories and broke the RSU school record for walks in a single season. Watson is currently working to attain her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Langston University.

Ray Grandstaff is a 1958 graduate of Central High School and a member of the Muskogee Central Roughers football team from 1955-57 earning All-Conference and MVP honors in his senior season. He was a member of the contingent of Roughers invited to play in the Santa Claus Bowl against Anchorage High School in Anchorage Alaska following his junior year. Following his high school career, Grandstaff became the starting center for the Oklahoma State University freshman team before he transferred to Northeastern State University where he played both center and linebacker. Following his collegiate career, Grandstaff became a teacher and coach beginning in 1961 when he taught at Muskogee’s West Junior High and was assistant coach in football, wrestling and basketball. After stints in New Mexico, Claremore and Checotah, Grandstaff became head football coach of the Muskogee Roughers from 1974-77 leading the team to an undefeated regular season and earning Conference Coach of the Year honors in 1976-77. Additional honors include being named to the Oklahoma Coaches Hall of Fame and Checotah Athletic Hall of Fame.

Lonnie Barker, Jr. is a 1994 graduate and a standout athlete competing in wrestling, football and track and field. On the wrestling mat, Barker was a state champion and two-time state qualifier for the Roughers earning All-State honors as well as becoming a two-time national qualifier and Junior Olympic freestyle champion. He finished his wrestling career with an outstanding 114-13 record. He was also named All-Conference pole vaulter in track and as a wide receiver in football. Barker continued his wrestling career at the University of Oklahoma where he earned All-American honors as a freshman and also named an Academic All-American in the Big 8 Conference. Following college, Barker pursued his love for music becoming a national recording artist and two-time Grammy Award nominee. He also has published a book and is the founder and CEO of Top Notch International and Lions Den Studios.
