The Muskogee Roughers are STATE CHAMPS!!!!
In a thrilling game at Richison Stadium in Edmond, the Roughers stopped a Stillwater two-point conversion try with just seconds remaining to play to hold on to a 28-26 win over the Pioneers, avenging two straight losses to Stillwater and, more importantly, capturing the Class 6AII football championship. It’s the first football title for the Roughers since 1986.
Quarterback Jamarian Ficklin was the offensive star of the game with 149 yards passing and 86 yards rushing with four touchdowns while Tim Moore led the defense with 13 tackles in the game.
It was the first time the Roughers had made the state finals since ’86 after six losses over the years in the semifinals.
CONGRATULATIONS ROUGHERS!!!
