Five students at Muskogee High School were presented the prestigious U.S. Naval Academy Challenge Coin. A symbol of recognition, tradition and leadership, the “Challenge Coin” was presented to thee juniors including Perry Bartley, Zuri Stewart and Bryanna Maxwell along with sophomores Kassidy Jones and Ardyn Hughey who were nominated by teachers, counselors and administrators at Muskogee High School.
With its roots traced back to World War I, The United States Naval Academy (USNA) challenge coin that gets handed out to high school students is mainly a symbol of recognition, encouragement, and motivation.
When the U.S. Naval Academy gives a challenge coin to a high school student, they’re saying, “You’re a part of our extended family of future leaders.” The award links the student directly into a long military tradition of honor, belonging and recognition. Even if the student never attends the Academy, the coin is a physical reminder of the standards of duty, honor and leadership the United State Navy values.
