After just missing out on making the state slow pitch state tournament last year, the Lady Roughers are hoping that success will carry over this year as they get ready to start the 2026 season.
“We’ll be young with just one starting senior, but we hope to build on last year when we were just one pitch and one hit away from making the state tournament in our extra innings loss to Bixby,” said head coach Marc Dicus. “We’ve got all of those players back and they’re all bigger, stronger, faster and more experienced. Our biggest problem right now is getting them all together with several of our girls either still in basketball or splitting time this spring between track and softball.”

Senior Gabbie Davis will anchor Muskogee again this year at third base and junior Kyra Rowland will be back again, probably playing first base. After that, Dicus talked about other players that will contribute to the Lady Roughers.
“Two of our better players will be sophomores Kelashia Smith at shortstop and Charlesia Normore in the outfield along with Jakeis Maxwell who had a great fall and spring last year. She’ll bring a big bat to the lineup and will also be in the circle some,” said Dicus. “Her sister Jamiah is a junior and she’s really come along and gotten better as well. Also back is Cailee Royse who suffered a broken ankle during fast pitch season which really derailed our season, so getting her back healthy will be a big plus for us.”
