

Muskogee and the Stillwater Pioneers collide Thursday night for the 6A-II-I district championship as both teams enter the week 10 matchup at Rougher Village with identical 9-0 records. For Muskogee, it’s an opportunity to complete the regular season undefeated for the first time since 1980 in the Senior Night contest.
The two squads have multiple similarities in their 2022 results. The Roughers, after a 61-28 win last week over Bartlesville continue to light up the scoreboard averaging 47 points a game, the most in school history by producing 445 yards per game that includes a passing attack powered by sophomore quarterback Jamarian Ficklin that has generated 251 yards a game. Stillwater’s offense, engineered by quarterback Gage Gundy has piled up an average of 52 points per game with a balanced offense producing 445 yards per contest.
Defensively the two teams are equally impressive as the Roughers have limited their opponents to just 80 yards rushing per outing while recording 24 quarterback sacks and creating 23 turnovers resulting in a plus-17 ratio.
Stillwater in going undefeated has smashed their opponents by allowing just 10 points per game while limiting their foes to just 192 yards a game by forcing 30 turnovers including 17 pass interceptions and 19 quarterback sacks.
Both teams assured of a first round bye next week in the 6A-II playoffs, will meet for the 15th time in the series. Stillwater won the most recent contest in the 2018 playoffs 54-13 with the Roughers ousting the Pioneers from the 2016 postseason in a 24-22 battle as Muskogee continued trek to the state semifinals. Stillwater leads the overall series 9-5.
Game time is set for 7pm tonight at Rougher Village.
