Cheyenne Walden, a senior at Muskogee High School, is preparing for her final year with a strong sense of purpose shaped by family, academics and athletics. As she enters her final season, she is focused on making the most of every opportunity while continuing to grow as both a student and an athlete.

Walden said her biggest inspiration is her mother, whose work ethic has influenced her outlook on life.

“She is very hardworking and wants me to always do my best,” Walden said.
As a varsity cheerleader, Walden plays a key role as a flyer for the school team while also competing in all-star cheer at Oklahoma Spirit in Wagoner, where she serves as a base. The dual roles demand both physical skill and adaptability, something she has developed through consistent training. She spends about a month preparing with the school team and an additional six weeks training with her all-star team before the school year begins. The different responsibilities have given her a broader understanding of the sport and reinforced the importance of trusting those around her.

“Athletics have taught me so much discipline and to always be my best,” Walden said. “In the future, this will help me to always be my best.”

Beyond athletics, Walden is active in several school organizations, including Student Life Council, Fostering Hope, National Honor Society and Oklahoma Honor Society. She said those organizations have allowed her to give back while building friendships and leadership skills that extend well beyond the cheer mat.

In the classroom, Walden excels in math, which she describes as her favorite subject because it comes naturally to her. She also credits her third grade teacher, Mrs. Mitchell, as an early influence who helped shape her academic confidence.
Walden said she values the relationships she has built through cheer and school involvement. She also looks up to former cheerleader Rayleigh Yocham, who she said taught her to understand her self-worth both on and off the mat.

Outside of school, Walden enjoys spending time with friends, shopping and being with her boyfriend. As graduation approaches, she said she is excited to see what comes next and is looking forward to the opportunities that await after high school.

“I am very excited to see how my life is after graduation,” she said.
