ROUGHERS OPEN NEW HOME
– ROUGHER VILLAGE
Muskogee seeks 2-0 start against Putnam City
Fresh off a season opening 28-26 win on the road last week against Enid, Muskogee opens the gates to their new home “Rougher Village” on Friday night hosting Putnam City in a 7pm kickoff.
Sparked by an 72-yard touchdown pass reception by sophomore Ondraye Beasley and 33 yard run by Brandon Tolbert, the Roughers look to find continued offensive success but must contain the pressure defense of the Pirates led by defensive Taje McCoy, who has multiple Division-I recruiting offers.
Putnam City, who enters the contest 0-1 after a zero- week 52-17 setback to Bishop McGuiness will search for offensive consistency against the Muskogee defense anchored by linebackers Deshawn Smith who had 10 solo tackles against Enid and Tolbert who totaled 16 stops.
After playing football at historic Indian Bowl since 1939, the Roughers take the field for the first time at “Rougher Village” with game time set for 7pm. The new football stadium and an adjoining new field house were part of a $110 million bond issue Muskogee Public Schools voters approved in 2019. RougherTV will deliver the livestream broadcast (YouTube.com/RougherTV) with the pregame show beginning at 6:30pm. The contest will also be available on radio at KTFX 101.7fm.
