Muskogee enters 2026 as a serious 6A‑II threat under second‑year head coach Dale Condict, coming off a 6-6 season and facing what he calls a “VERY competitive schedule” after statewide reclassification. Condict notes they lost several starters to graduation but are very optimistic about our younger players” and stresses that with the tough slate, they “need to be mentally ready to grind through several close games.” The veteran coach believes the defense “has the ability to be really good” and says the development of the offensive line will be critical to the Roughers’ success.

Offensively, Muskogee will run a modern, balanced spread attack that blends downhill run concepts with tempo and quick throws. Condict describes it as a “typical spread offense” that wants to be “very balanced,” highlighting a “solid running game with some misdirection and QB run,” plus “quick passing game, play action, RPO’s,” and staples such as counter, inside zone and power. Senior tackle and Top 100 nominee Jomontae “Jo-Jo” Alexander (6-3, 265) and junior Courtenay Nash (6-0, 220) at guard headline a big, athletic offensive line that must lead the way. On the perimeter, senior receiver Anthony McNac Jr. (6-1, 190), a Top 100 talent returns after making 13 catches for 219 yards and three touchdowns joined by junior Damarion Berryman (5-7, 160) while junior running back Anthony Hytche (5-8, 165) who added 22 carries for 116 yards and junior quarterback Brayden McMullen (5-11, 175), a transfer, steps in to pilot the offense and give Muskogee a dual threat offensive scheme.

Defensively, the Roughers will base out of a 3‑4 with multiple coverage looks built off a cover 2‑read structure. Condict emphasizes, “We want to be great vs. the run” by using “movements and different looks” and taking advantage of their team speed. Senior lineman Anthony Harris Jr. (5-11, 215), a transfer, and junior defensive lineman James Haws (6-2, 220) give Muskogee size, strength and quickness up front bolstered by depth from juniors Courtenay Nash and Tevaughn Ioane (6-1, 210) and sophomore Temaje Wiliams (5-7, 275) while transfer Jon Abel (6-3, 220) will anchor the edge at defensive end. Senior linebacker Cole McQueen (6-1, 210) returns after making 45 tackles with a sack, fumble recovery and touchdown last season, alongside senior linebacker Trae Jackson (5-11, 175) and juniors Jakarri Ashley (6-0, 195) and Sir Hoseah (6-2, 190) to create a physical strike force unit. In the secondary, the cornerback duo of senior Tre’Shaun Pouncil (6-0, 180) (21 tackles, one interception, one touchdown) and junior La’Thius Jones (6-0,175) will join junior safety Dreydon Spencer (5-9, 175) (40 tackles) to headline a unit designed to capitalize on speed and disguise. With four offensive and five defensive starters back plus several impact newcomers, Muskogee has the pieces to contend if the line gels and the team embraces Condict’s challenge to “grind through” a demanding schedule including just a six team district after reclassification.
