

VYPE: What are your goals for yourself and your team this season?
Shay: My individual goal is to be a great team leader and get stronger and better as a softball player. My goal for the team is for us to have a fun season, have good chemistry, and win state for Muskogee.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Shay: Beating Coweta was a big accomplishment and some other high ranked teams and getting to start at second base as a freshman was pretty cool. It was a lot of fun playing with all my friends and my teammates.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade or coach and why?
Shay: Mr. Zavala was my 8th grade advisory teacher. He is really supportive, uplifting, and is a great role model and I look up to him a lot.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Shay: Winning female athlete of the year last year was definitely my favorite athletic memory. It made me feel so accomplished and made me feel like all my hard work has paid off.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Shay: Karsyn York, she does not let anything get in her way or affect her. She is such a hard worker and I admire that a lot.
VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?
Shay: Kambri Johnson definitely says the funniest things during games that makes everyone laugh in the dugout, and Kye Carter has the best impersonation of our coach.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Shay: I would love to go to a beach with my best friend Jaliyah and just relax.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 dollars and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Shay: If I had $500 dollars, I would spend part of it on shopping and give the rest to Mrs. Cash for Alzheimer’s Awareness because it means a lot to her and I would love to do something to help her out.

Shay: I would say thank you to all my friends and teammates for all the laughs and hard work and encouragement, and to my family for their support and cheering me on, and mostly God for the loving community that he has surrounded me with, the ability to do the things I love, and loving me no matter what.
